Rome
Any affordable hotels (95-150 euro) near the spanish steps? Any other suggestions for locations (3 nights)? Traveling in October 07'.

Can't give you any recommendations. I see in another post re Florence that you are 4 adults traveling together and willing to share one room. FYI, when we were in Rome in October 2006, we noticed how much more crowded it was than during our last trip to Rome in 2003. The owner of our hotel (where we had stayed twice previously) told us that October is now her most requested month. So, I think you're going to have to do a lot of research to find a quad room near the Spanish Steps in October.

... for under 150 euros.

Check out the Hotel Suisse. I stayed there about the same time as you, in 2005. Our most favorite hotel of our 2+ week trip. Good reviews in Tripadvisor and Venere.
5 minutes north to the top of the Spanish Steps and also 5 minutes north to the bottom, by going down one block. 150 Euros, large room, designer bath, and breakfast in your room. Wunderbar! Less than 10 minutes to the Metro. Good restaurants in the neighborhood, including one with great Emelia-Rogmana cooking. |
But is the Hotel Suisse room for four people?
Try Hotel Panda - that's your best hope, I think. I know they have at least one quad room. |
Has anyone stayed at the Hotel Sussie in
Rome? If so, can you tell me if it was a good place to stay? |
