Rome
I will be staying at the Hilton Cavalieri this month in Rome. Can someone tell me their thoughts on this hotel or area?

Since this is your first post, we'll try to be gentle.....
If you don't get many responses, you may want to repost with a better title like "what's your opinion of Hilton Cavalieri in Rome" or something more descriptive. Also, you may want to look at www.tripadvisor.com to read the reviews there. You can also search on this forum for past comments by putting the name of the hotel in the search field. That way you're doing some of your own homework. |

hi
let me suggest that you repost your question with the name of the hotel in the title, it will be more likely to catch the eye of someone who knows that hotel. I haven't stayed there, but I don't care for that location as it's not central enough for me. |
great minds....

Hi Luv2travl2,
I did a text search for you and came up with a few threads, perhaps this one may be of help to you: http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34583823 If you just type 'Hilton Cavalieri' in the search text box above and hit enter, you will find more threads on this hotel. Happy journey, Tiff :S- |
Personally, I think it's too far removed from the sites that you'll probably be seeing. But that all depends on what you're looking for. So...what ARE you looking for in a hotel and it's location?

It's a fantastic hotel, especially if you are on the club floors. We stayed for a week last May and return this October.
The views are fantastic and free food (executive club room) is great. We had beautiful huge rooms with a great patio. However, if I wasn't using Hilton points ,I would stay elsewhere. The charge A LOT ,per room (especially club floor) and it is not convenient at all. While they have a free shuttle, it stops at 9pm-way too early. So expect taxis each night. Since you said you are "staying", I'll assume that you going to be there for sure. If so, the area is nothing special. Mostly residential. The spa and pool are great, but if you are not a HH diamond, you will have a charge to use them. Ask for a view of Rome. |
The big "drawback" to the Hilton seems to be its location since the establishment runs a shuttle bus for guests back and forth to the center of the city itself.
There is more than one hotel closer to the center of things which offers everything the Hilton offers IMO but if you are set on it, no problem. Just be prepared to be NOT within walking distance of major sites. |
Thanks for the advice on how to search and post in this forum. I'll definitely make a note of it!!

I was at the Hilton Cavalieri twice, but haven't spent the night there both times (once it was for a party so I got to see the inside of the hotel, and another time was during my teenage years when I stood outside the hotel waiting to meet the 80ies band Poison ;-) ). Anyway, the Hotel is set on a hill near Monte Mario and Piazzale Clodio, its nearest tourist attraction is the Vatican , but it is absolutely not within walking distance. The road to reach the hotel unwinds around this hill, and the nearest bus station is located in Piazzale Clodio. The hotel itself is beautiful, but if you want to stay closer to the touristic attractions I would choose something else. The Atlante Star or the Atlante Garden hotels are 4 star hotels that offer wonderful views of St Peters from the roof terrace for example. Also, hotel del Senato has received raving reviews and its position is excellent right next to the Pantheon. I personally love Hotel dei Borgognoni, another 4 star centrally located hotel. And there are lots of other 4 star hotels like the Hilton Cavalieri more centrally located.
