Maybe the rude Canadians were Americans masquerading as Canadians!

;)

Danon, I'm glad we agree on one thing. To "not paint with the same brush!" It is THE reason why I began this thread. Using your argument, it safe to say that most (not all) of the Italians we've met in Rome should also not paint most (if not all) Filipinos as maids or caregivers either. Nor ALL Americans-rude. It is an argument that will just go in circles. Unfortunately, it seems to be an innate behaviour to categorize and put labels on other cultures. Sad but true. I don't go to a country to change the locals' point of views because oftentimes it seems easier to just change mine. I am just glad that I have a choice. Another cliche that comes into mind is "if you can't take the heat, then get out!" That we did. What I've expressed was a mere observation from us but we are not naive to think that the whole country is like that.

So sorry that I wasn't able to follow-up on this thread. Checkerspot, very well said! BTW, what is the main source of revenue of Rome? What about Paris?
Just thinking?

You cant generalize and have an opinion about a country or the peoples you meet just because you met some rude people.

I can go to Walmart and have the rudest indifferent sales girls that dont give a Hoot if you never come back and shop there.

Should I then say that All Americans are rude or racist toward people of different race?

I lived in many countries around the world and had to learn to respect and learn other culture.I had good experiences and so so experiences but I always try of not generalize too much.

We have a saying in Italy:: Tutto il Mondo e un Paese" it means that the world is just one Country.

Jean--the poll asked about visitors from these countries while they were on vacation in other countries; not how they acted or their eating habits in their own countries.

It wasn't conducted by The Mirror, but some international tourism group.
