Rome: 30E or under tasty meal for our anniversary near Spainsh Steps and Via Vento

My husband and I are leaving tomorrow for Europe. Please advise a resonable place for our anniversary dinner in Rome for no more than 30E a person. We are staying at the Hotel Modigliani near the Spainsh Steps and Via Veneto.

When we were in Rome (and staying at the Modigliani), we ate at L'Antica Enoteca a couple of times. They have a great wine selection and good cheese plates, but their food was also nice. We had good service, though I understand that it can vary.

Here is a review.

Ristorante Alla Rampa, a place just a short hop from the north end of Piazza di Spagna at Piazza Mignanelli, 18, was recommended by someone here on Fodors before my first trip to Rome. We ate there then, as well as on a subsequent trip, and enjoyed it both times. Here's someone's personal review I found from 5/2003...

We also liked the place that SloJan mentioned, L'Antica Enoteca (although I think it's actually L'Enoteca Antica.) I agree on the great wine selection and good cheese (and antipasto) plates, although we did not have dinner there so I can't comment on that.

Of the two places, I'd recommend Alla Rampa. But you'll probably get other suggestions here as well.

Happy anniversary! How wonderful to celebrate it in Rome.

One of our favorite restaurants in Rome is on Via del Croce nearer to the Spanish Steps end - Otello. I can't remember if it's Restaurant or Trattoria but there's an obvious sign outside - it's also in Fodor's guidebook. Their prices are very reasonable and the food is good. We ate there three times on our last trip in April! We have gone there when they are full so you may want to make a reservation.

You'll find other small restaurants up and down this street as well as on some of the smaller side streets. It's a great area for eating. Ciao . . .

La Buca di Ripetta at 13 via di Ripetta, Vegetarian Margutta at via Margutta & Piazza del Popolo, and Nino on via Borgognona are all totally fabulous places. The last is possibly the most expensive, but all are quite reasonable, and have great food and wonderful service.

Buon Viaggio & Buon Appetito!

Good morning, have an additional two to add to NINO and they are LA CAPRICCIOSA, largo dei Lombardi, 8, very good food, fish and meat with pizza also. located just off the Corso
block north of the Condotti....Have used this ristorante many, many times since 1971. Next, is RISTORANTE 34, via Mario de' Fiori ,34....excellant food and service, reservations are required....located about one full block from the bottom of the Spanish Steps, found last November and was pleasantly suprised with it.

Thanks, Capo! I knew that didn't sound quite right.
Cheers,
