Rome
Hi all!

I posted earlier today about Hotel Forte in Rome, but I was also looking to see if any of the Fodorites here had recommendations on hotels that are in the mid-to-lower expensive rates.

I am looking for something near Piazza di Popolo or around that area. I like that area from my past visits and find it well suited for walking all around Rome.

Thanks for your help!

Diane
I think you will find it easier to get responses if you are more specific on what you want to spend--mid to lower means different things to different people, and you don't say what you must have, such as an elevator, a/c if you are traveling in summer, etc.

The Hotel Locarno is a well-recommended mid-price hotel in the Piazza del Popolo area and they have a website. I also like the area and have considered staying there myself.

Good point, Elaine. Thanks.

My husband and I will be in Rome from 03 Nov - 17 Nov, 2001. We are looking for a price range up to approx. $150/night. Our needs are pretty simple: clean room, good service, private bath, etc.

Thanks.

We stayed at the Hotel Portoghesi which is closer to the Pantheon than Piazza del Popolo, but it is definitely in the price range.

It has been recently renovated, so everything is new and clean. The bathrooms were spotless as was the rest of the hotel.

Any other questions, let me know.
