Rome- is the underground tunnel between the Vatican & Castle Sant' Angelo now open?
Hello. I asked this question a few days ago but received no response. So I re-worded it & will try again.
I have heard that this tunnel was now open to visitors. Has anybody recently been there or know for sure? Thanks.

I've checked a few websites that arrange tours, and I see no mention the passetto is open.
However, for some off-the-grid sights in Rome: http://www.romeitalyholiday.com/rome....htmxcavations, look at

It's not an underground tunnel; it's a fortified passageway above street level.
There's nothing about visiting the passageway on one Web site that is updated fairly frequently; there are guided visits in English on Sunday at 2:30 of the prisons of Castel Sant'Angelo.

I was just in the Castel on Saturday.
I remember reading about the passage in a guidebook but saw no evidence of it or that it was something tourists could see.
BTW, the Castel was well worth the visit and has beautiful frescos inside and incredible views from the top!
