Rome - what to do for 5 hours in city with luggage?
Hi!
I will be a first time traveler to Rome in March. Our flight is scheduled to arrive at 8:45 a.m. at FCO in Rome and our hotel allows check-in after 2 p.m. What do you suggest that we do in Rome for this length of time? We will each have only carry on luggage (one rolling bag and one shoulder bag each.) Does anyone have a suggestion of a nice place to sit and drink in the view? We will be staying at Albergo del Senato near the Pantheon.
Thanks in advance! You have all already been a great help as I have used this site for all of my trip advice!

They will let you leave your luggage at the Del Senato--at most any hotel, actually. When we stayed there, our rooms were ready for us fairly early.
Go to the hotel, leave your luggage, and go out and enjoy bella Roma! Congratulations on your wedding.

EmmaRain,
You might want to email the hotel and let them know you will be arriving early and would like to leave your luggage. This would be as a formality/courtesy only. I would be shocked (SHOCKED!) if there were any problem with this.
Again, have a wonderful trip. Rome is a beautiful, fascinating city. Watch the traffic!

If, for some unknown reason, your hotel will not let you leave your luggage, you can leave it at the Termini train station. They have a left luggage area where you can rent space for short amounts of time. Sorry I don't remember how much, I just noticed as we were walking through(just got back from Rome 5 days ago).

This is highly subjective, but if it was me, I would drop my luggage off at the Senato. You will get there around 11:00 ish, I predict. They may have your room ready before 2:00, so find out what the time frame is, then just walk around the general vicinity....pop into the Pantheon, then over to Piazza Navona. You can have lunch at La Sagrestia, on Via del Seminario - terrific pizza....
You can also stake out places to have dinner. I love doing dry-runs, so I won't get lost in the dark. Find Myosotis, and make a reservation to have dinner there that night!

I would go directly to your hotel. If your room happens be ready and they may let you check in early. If not, certainly they will keep your luggage at the front desk until check-in time.
TIf the room is not available yet, I'd simply go back out for a walk around and a bite to eat in the neighborhood of your hotel.
