Romantic Road Number?

Hi-

Can someone tell me the actual number of the Romantic Road (i.e. A7, A3, etc.). I'm trying to locate it on a map and am having trouble.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

We basically followed the A7 from Wurzburg all the way down to Fussen. We stopped at different towns along the way for a look and then stayed at others as well. We ended up in Schwangau and visited Neuschwanstein. Easy driving all the way. We then dropped our car off in Munich and flew out.Have a great time!

The Romantik Road was a fairly recent creation of the German Tourist Office i believe to hype a road that to me is anything but romantic - a fairly busy two-lane road - but the towns along it are a delight - but point is the road numbers may change because historically there was no such road until for marketing purposes German tourist entities started to market it.

I agree. It's not well marked but it's a nice 2 lane road, depending on the time of year& traffic.
We rode from Wurzburg to Rothenberg stopping at Weikersheim, Creglingen, and then south to Dinkelsbuhl from Rothenberg. The A3/A7 is your best bet to quickly get from one place to another along the romantic Road.

Wurzburg - Bad Mergentheim: road#19
B-M - A6/E50 junction: unclassified
(section includes Rothenburg-ob-der-Tauber)
A6/E50 jnctn - Donauworth: road#25
(section includes Dinkelsbuhl & Nordlingen)
Donauworth - Augsburg: road#2 (m/way)
Augsberg - Fussen: road#17
(section includes Landsberg am Lecht)

But don't be discouraged by the changes in numbering. The road flows pretty much as one, and is a very pleasant drive indeed.

I just found this site which I think has the best info about the Romantic Road.
We are traveling the Romantic Road in May.
