Romantic Road

What is the highway number for the Romantic Road - we are trying to highlight our drive and even though we have 3 different maps we are so confused ?

It's not a "Road" as such. It's better described as a series of towns and villages linked north to south (or vice versa). See here...

It is the B25, but you better take A7 to cover distances. The Romantic Road is just a normal highway and no fun to drive. The "romantic" things are the historical towns.

Thanks traveller1959 - does A stand for autobahn ? I saw a bus tour that said it took 11 hours from Fussein to Wursberg with stopping - would they mean on B25 ? Have you been on it ? Is it worth it ?

"A" means Autobahn. Fast and easy driving. "B" means Bundesstraße - a normal, two lane-highway winding through industrial suburbs with lots of traffic, including trucks.

The eleven-hour-drive sounds exhausting. Usually you stay overnight in one of the picturesque towns and take some time for strolling through the towns.

The main point is to select the destinations (towns) along the Romantic Road and then you take the road which is fastest.

Maybe you tell us, where you want to start and where to end and how many time you will have?
