romantic reviews
Last Valentines Day, I attempted to start a thread asking where they would best like to stay with their Valentine. I was reminded of my nil returns when reading a recent article in the Saturday Telegraph Our top 10 romantic hideaways. These were mostly European, and I wondered whether readers would agree, disagree, or add their own. The list was:

1 The Rookery, London EC1
2 Columbe dOr, St Paul de Vence, France;
3 Palazzo Sasso, Ravello, Italy;
4 Ardanaiseig, Kilchrenan by Taynuilt, Scotland;
5 Giln Castle, County Limerick, Ireland;
6 Hotel de Nice, Paris;
7 La Bateau Jolia, Paris;
8 Riad Kaiss, Marakesh, Morrocco;
9 Jeakes, Rye, East Sussex.
The Princess.

Captiva Island, Florida. The South Seas Resort.

Carefree, Arizona. The Boulders.

Coral Gables (Miami), Florida. The Biltmore.

Palm Beach, Florida. The Breakers or the Palm Beach Hotel.

San Diego, California. The Coronado.

Santa Barbara, California. The Biltmore.

Santa Fe, New Mexico. No longer remember the name of the hotel.

In Europe, in February, I would choose Venice every time, and if I could afford it, a room the Danieli with a view across the Lagoon to San Giorgio.

Commenting on the Saturday Telegraph's list (what city's paper is that?), I have to say that's a pretty good list. But what about the Princeville Hotel in Kauai? and hotels in other tropical destinations. Wouldn't most people rather go to a warm place in February?
