Romantic restaurant for birthday in Florence

I'm looking for a wonderful restaurant for my birthday which is our last night in Italy. We want a place with great food and a relaxed, romantic atmosphere. Does Villa San Michelle fit the bill or is it too stuffy? I've also heard that Cavalo Nero was good. Any suggestions?

My pick would be La Giostra. You can check them out in Fodor's restaurants and I believe they have a website.

I don't know when you're going; Villa San Michele is not stuffy, has great food and fabulous views, but is best when you can sit outside on their terrace overlooking Florence. It's very romantic.

Hi Pawleys,

If by "stuffy" you mean that gentlemen wear jackets at dinner, yes it's stuffy.

Tulips, we're going to be there mid October. Do you think that we will be able to dine outside?
Ira, I'm not opposed to jackets; but, to a stilted atmosphere where the waiters take themselves too seriously.Have either of you heard of Cavola Nero or Trattoria Cammillo?

Hi Pawleys,

A much less luxurious restaurant, with excellent food and good service in pleasant surroundings is Il Ritrovo Via de? Pucci 4/A
Best food for the price Has fish. Full dinner w/wine abt 40E pp Closed Monday
From Pzza San Giovani (NW corner of the Pza del Duomo) walk one blk East to Via dei Martelli. Go left to Via dei Pucci. Turn Right. Look very carefully on left. No sign. Door could be locked. Ring bell.

It will probably be too cold to eat outside at dinner; lunch maybe.
