Romantic Prague Restaurants
Does anyone know of any nice candlelit places close to Hotel Paris?
Is there a good website thats shows interiors, menus etc? |
The Palffy Palac ( say it Pa-lots) is across the river from you in Mala Strana, but it's not far. Excellent food and atmosphere, and smiling competent staff.

I'm not sure where the Hotel you mentioned is located, however my wife & I had a wonderful meal right by the Charles Bridge that had everything you could ask for (including a bottle of local wine) that was both romantic, & reasonably priced. Plan it for sunset & you won't be disappointed.

two fine restaurants we enjoyed in Prague; (while I have no idea where your hotel is, we found everywhere easy to walk or hop a tram/taxi and while they don't have the fancier chandeliers, etc of Paiffy Palac, you might enjoy them also during your trip:
Kampa Park: we had a lovely special "last night in prague" dinner here and their wine list was fabulous. We had a lovely table reserved by the fireplace and before had cocktails over looking the river. Food was perfect. overlooks river/Charles Bridge from castle side. Bellevue Restaurant: wonderful window seat overlooking river (from opposite castle side) just close to sunset - and the service and food was also excellent/special and they often have pianist/jazz you can check their schedule. here is one web link that has restaurants, etc and many open to web pages of the restaurants. http://www.pragueexperience.com/places.asp?PlaceID=762 also chowhound.com has an international page you can check there. |
so sorry, wrong link: i had it bookmarked from my trip on the kampa park page, just noticed when i checked my post it looked too long, link for main page of this site is:
http://www.pragueexperience.com/ I wonder if SAnParis were you at Bellevue? |
I've been to the Palffy Palac for a last day of the trip lunch. It was so wonderful that no one wanted to leave. We sat outside with a view over the rooftops. Plus there is a music school downstairs, so were were able to listen to lessons while we ate. The indoors looks like lovely old private salon, do go there, its so beautiful.
here is their site: http://www.palffy.cz/en/index_foto.htm |
SAnParis
Sounds ideal but you don't say what the name is? I'll try some of your ideas and thanks. PS The Hotel Paris is based near Old Town Square - I believe it is opposite the Municipal Building - does this help with local recommendations? |
P.S. Looked at the Palfy website - it looks very posh. I've posted on another query about dress codes as we don't want to be laden down with posh clothes - will smart casual be acceptable at this restaurant as well?

The Bella Vista is a short taxi ride away (near the Strahove Monastary), but worth it. A rarity - in that it has both exquisite food and probably the best view in the city.

Found slip with names of two other restaurants we enjoyed in Prague -
this one maybe not the most romantic of all, but warm, inviting, good food, quaint, comfortable: ws the U Modre Kachnicky II - http://www.umodrekachnicky.cz/home1.htm and not for romantic, but for affordable, (not typical Czech food when you see the web site) but change of pace after too much spatzle and heavy sauces - it was fresh, delicious, light http://www.orangemoon.cz/ |
