romantic hotels in Paris

My husband and I are going to be in Paris the end of May and are looking for suggestions of any romantic Parisian hotels in the St. Germaine area or Isle St. Louis

Hi Clare. No specific suggestions, but I'd highly recommend picking up a book called "Fodors Rivages Guide to Hotels of Character & Charm in Paris" for some great ideas. Every listing has a photograph and a detailed description.

The rooms were small (well, that's true in a lot of Paris hotels!) but I loved the Hotel Vereneuil, on the rue Vereneuil.

Clare, you could also visit smallandeleganthotels.com. We used them for our first trip to Paris last November and were very happy with their choice of hotels. They offer rooms at a variety of hotels in all price ranges. I particularly liked the Hotel St. Paul, Le Regent, Dauphine, and Le Clos Medicis. Hope that helps.

I THINK the Clos de Medici has a room at the top of the hotel that has a skylight, and the bathroom is up a flight of stairs within your room - to get to this room you take the elevator to the top floor and then climb a flight of stairs. This was the most lovely room, and very secluded. If only I could remember for sure that it was that hotel.... but it might be worth asking about - the room would be perfect for you!

I recommend the Relais St. Suplice in the St. Germain area. It is lovely and the staff was great. the location is ideal. I've stayed at other hotels in Paris and liked this one the best.

Clare - This is quite a common topic here. Try a search for "romantic paris" and/or "charm hotel paris" and you'll find plenty more recommendations. Have a wonderful trip.

Clare, we recently stayed at Au Manoir St. Germain, and I'm sorry, I have nothing to compare it to, but our room, 603, had a rooftop balcony, that didn't have a view of anything but ugly rooftops, and the stars. Actually, in the daylight it was quite an awful view, but at nighttime - my husband and I sang the lyrics to, "Up on the roof". I'm sure no other room in this hotel had this advantage, maybe others had a front view, but, we had our own little "paradise, up on the roof". There's room enough for two up on the roof.
If you happen to reserve this room, bring a candle.
I will be further commenting on this hotel as well as our touch of Paris.
Cher
