romantic hotel paris
 

i will be going to paris in december to celebrate our 30th anniversary. can anyone recommend a nice hotel . maybe 4star.<BR>also has anyone visited in december are most things open.

My best friend, and someone I trust a lot, is jus back from the Jeu de Paume on the Ile Saint-Louis and coulnd't say enough wonderful things about it. There's info on the France reservation Center web site. http://digital.france.com/hotels/index.html

Hi there:<BR><BR>I stayed at the Jeu de Paume last year for 7 days.<BR>Yes, the location was wonderful, the amazingly picturesque Ile St Louis. The hotel was very cute, nice little foyer, a cute dog in the reception area. <BR><BR>The staff were ok, relatively friendly though not overly helpful. But probably most importantly with a hotel, the room was pretty average. <BR><BR>It was very small, as are most Parisian rooms, but with the most plain decorations you will likely find in all of Paris. We had a room on the top floor (cosidered to be the nice rooms), and were a bit surprised, considering how expensive it was to stay there.<BR><BR>There was a seperate little cubby hole that was the toilet, and it was a bit grotty and smelled (and it wasn't us).<BR><BR>The rooms, to put it simply, are in need of some good decorating.<BR>I reiterate that the location was fantastic, however having been to Paris a few times, we felt that it was over-priced for what it was. <BR><BR>We have stayed at the 'Hotel Opal' before, which is on Rue Tronchet, Madeleine. Just around the corner from Maxims and Fauchon and next to the Madeleine. The exterior of the hotel probably doesn't look as romantic as the Jeu de Paume. But this hotel for example, had much nicer/romantically decorated rooms than the Jeu de Paume.<BR><BR>I have also stayed at the Hotel Meurice with my parents, but this place is really really expensive, so even though it is very romantic looking, it is also astronomically expensive. I don't imagine you are wanting to spend quite that much.<BR><BR>The point I am trying to make in a very long-winded way is that I am sure that you could find somewhere better worth the 4 star rate, or at least cheaper.<BR><BR>Kind regards,<BR>Jade.<BR><BR>

have stayed at the Hotel La Terrasse in rue Joseph Maistre at the foot of the col du Montmartre - near the Metro - beautiful room decorated with blue and yellow - fleur de lys style - extremely clean bathroom - good substantial buffet breakfast - helpful staff - beautiful roof garden with view over the City of Lights

I have been in Paris many times and whatever you do at least select a 3 stars hotel. Bear in mind that you will not find the quality of hotel we have here in North America. But as the saying goes...once in Rome do as the Romans do!<BR>If its your first time in Paris, don't try to visit everything, just walk near the Seine, go to the Vert Galant park, its a very beautiful city that grows on you if you take your time. If you were going in autum, I would suggest that you eat in one of their "p&eacute;niche" (boat) on the Seine and wave hand with the peoples passing through on the "bateau-mouche" while you eat.

We enjoyed our stay at " LE CLOS MEDECIS" lovely rooms, nice and very friendly staff and a good location near the Luxemberg garedens.
