Romantic Hotel In Rome

My fiancee and I will be honeymooning in Italy June 2-16, starting in Rome for five days. I have never been to Italy and would like to experience a small romantic hotel Centrally located - we've been told the Villa San Pio or the Scalinata di Spagna are nice. We will not have a car and our budget is $200-$250... any suggestions?

I recommend the Hotel Raphael, just off Piazza Navona. Ivy covered outside, a rooftop terrace, and elegantly furnished rooms. A wonderful and helpful staff.

The Villa San Pio is very nice but a little far from the center. I recommend you highly the Albergo del Senato, in front of the Pantheon. It's lovely and within your price range. I stayed there last November and loved it. You won't regret if you stay there. Have a great time in marvellous Rome.

The Villa San Pio is delightful, with spacious rooms and a friendly staff, and its distance from the center (about a 10 minute walk to the Colosseum) can be viewed as an advantage during a hot Roman summer -- it's in a quiet, leafy-green residential area.

While the Raphael is indeed a delightful and romantic hotel, rooms there go for at least 300 Euro per night in high season. We stayed there last July in a small suite and paid almost 600 Euro per night. A great place for a romantic honeymoon, but slightly out of the price range given. Agree that Del Senato would be a good choice although it probably is already booked for June. Scalinata di Spagna is a nice hotel but rooms are small and serviceable, not especially romantic. Try the d'Inghelterra and the Mozart, both near the Spanish Steps.

Thank you everyone! I have tried several and find some out of our price range...but the Hotel Mozart is available and has a honeymoon package available for E220! Thank you for your help!

The Mozart is a good option, but also look at Residenza Farnese and the Cesari before you decide. Good luck !

Wow, I am amazed about the Raphael. We stayed there in summer of 2001 and it was $210 US per night.
