Romantic evening in Paris wanted

My wife and I will be visiting Paris for the first time for our 30th wedding anniversary in March. I want to plan a very romantic and memorable dinner and evening for the actual anniversary night.

I'm looking for a beautiful restaurant with very good food (but not extremely costly or too noisy) for the evening. Dinner at the Eiffel Tower is tempting - what does anyone know of the Altitude 95 restaurant? Is it too touristy? Any other restaurant recommendations or ways to spend the evening will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Greg

Hey Greg,

It's the only time you will have a 30th anniversary in Paris, spring for the extra and go the Jules Verne.

I haven't been for a few years, but I've always thought that Armand au Palais Royal was a very romantic restaurant and one that won't break the bank, either.

If you are going in March, reserve Jules Verne now, it's that crazy.

I think that if you fall in love with Paris you'll feel romantic the whole time you are there.

By all means go to Les Ambassadeurs in the Crillon Hotel........

How about Le Grand Vefour in the Palais Royal area?

I heartily second the most recent 2 recommendations: lovely places, just right for a romantic evening that you won't forget.

Jean, I think the food at Les "A" is usually considered to be better... i know it has been for me...but, then, we have changed chefs!! c'est la vie!!

One other possibility: a cocktail cruise on the Seine at night after (or before) your dinner. Seeing Paris from the river at night, with the various buildings all lit up, is magical.

I was going to recommend Armand also. Very quiet place, nice atmosphere, reasonable prices. Service can be a little slow, allowing time for a little eye gazing across the table. The proprietor is a very gracious fellow. Right down the street from Le Grand Vefour. Assuming your hotel is not in walking distance, how about an extended cab ride with a route you have given to the driver, nestled together in the back seat and enjoying the evening sights.

Thanks to all for their recommendations. As a result, we've decided to have an anniversary lunch at Le Grand Vefour and a dinner the following night at Armands. I'm still interested in the Eiffel Tower, but the Jules Verne menu (what I've heard of it) doesn't appeal as yet.
