Romantic Castle Hotel in Bavaria or Northern Austria – Any Suggestions?

My fiance and I will be in Bavaria and Northern Austria in September for our Honeymoon, and I would really like to surprise her by staying in a beautiful, old castle at least one of the nights. I think it would be neat to stay in an actual castle, rather then in a hotel just outside of the castle. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Julie -- yes, it looks beautiful! I'm taking a carriage ride from Mittenwald through the snow to see it on Sunday 26 Dec.

Probably the only time I'll ever be there -- looks expensive to stay!

We enjoyed the Castle Hotel Schoenburg on the Rhine River, which overlooks the town of Oberwesel. They also have a wonderful restaurant.

It is a very romantic place.

Wow! Thank you all for the great suggestions. What is the best way to book a night in a castle hotel (email, phone) I live in the U.S.

You can just email the hotel (in English) directly. Most will respond within a day or two.
