Romance in Italy

We are planning to go to Italy for our honeymoon in October and have just begun to plan our trip. Other than the usual sites, can anyone recommend romantic places that we would not read about in any guide book? Almost anything in Italy on our honeymoon is going to be amazing, but would like to hear ideas. We are looking into Rome, Venice, Amalfi Coast-please advise!

I've been research our trip to Italy in September and have come up with quite a few suggestions. Here are the towns we're going to. Let me know if they match yours and I'll e-mail you some info on hotels, restaurants, neat places to go. Venice, Rome, Positano, Capri, and Ravello.(maybe Florence)

Thats extacly the plan and pretty much in that order! See revised email-can't spell after hours of staring at the computer! Who are you going with? Have you bought tickets? Have you decided to take the train or drive to Positano/Capri?

We're also traveling to Italy for our honeymoon, and we're having trouble finding a reasonably priced hotel in Venice. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I'm sure you will have a wonderful time in the places you've mentioned. Have you considered the hill towns in Tuscany? I've heard from others on these forums that Montalcino is lovely, though I haven't been there myself. I'm planning to go in May. If you're interested in staying there, the Hotel Vecchia Oliviera is supposed to be very nice!

My neighbors spent two weeks of their honeymoon last September in the Amalfi Coast, and they absolutely loved it. The views are supposedly breathtaking.
We toured Rome, Capri and the Amalfi Coast in October several years ago and the weather was wonderful (high 60's in Rome, warmer in Amalfi --warmer than Northern Italy). Italy in itself is romantic. We loved Rome, Sorrento, Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast. We did not have to wait in line for hardly anything so you should enjoy touring at that time--less crowds and nice weather. Very romantic walking thru the Borghese Park in Rome, viewing the amazing sculpture in the Galleria Borghese (get tickets in advance) and exiting at the Spanish Steps. Enjoy a walk at night in Piazza Navona and finding that special little restaurant in Campo di Fiori. Have a great honeymoon in Italy.
