Roman Forum Scale Model 179AD
The Roman Forum is my favorite ancient site, I've spent many hours there in my last 5 trips.<BR> With a good guidebook and map it's fairly easy to find all the sites. But it is hard to actually visualize what it really looked like by what remains today.<BR> I just came across this website www.quiknet.com/~fifi/index50.html the photos of the model are very detailed and lifelike. The best I've found online so far for the Forum. Regards, Walter

Are you able to view all the photos? I'm not and the ones I can see are chopped off. I would love to be able to see everything -- please advise.

Wonderful site Walter. Such detail. for all others, also go to the main page. There is a wealth of information during Roman times.<BR><BR>Thank you very much.<BR>

Betsy: It loads slowly for me but I can still click-on the pictures with no problem. Try just loading the page and scrolling down past the click-on pictures, they are all just really on the bottom of the page (full size).<BR> I don't have a computer (WebTV) so I really couldn't say what the problem is, honestly I don't even know how to turn a computer on:))). Regards, Walter

I was searching for something else and came across this past post of mine and I thought I'd top it.
I'm a bit of a Roman Forum buff so if anyone has any questions about any of the sites pictured or not pictured feel free to ask :). Regards, Walter |
I just came across this website that shows many Rome ruins with photos from the 4C-AD Rome model in the EUR museum (Museo della Civilta Romana).
It will give you an idea of what these sites once looked like. Another good source if you have an interest in a particular site is the 'Images' link on 'google'. For the best results use the English and then the Italian name of the site. http://roma.desdeinter.net/rom.htm click-on the 'zoom' link to enlarge the photos. Regards, Walter p.s. There are other good links to other ancient sites in Italy on that site also. |
oooh and another good one.
