Roman Forum: Ancient Church 'Santa Maria Antiqua' Reopens Apr10-May30
If you plan to be in Rome between now and the end of May you might want to try to arrange a visit to this ancient church.
I believe than the sign in the Forum stated it was going to be finished and reopened in April '04 but this seems to have been pushed back to '07
. And perhaps this is why they are having this limited opening?

With the restoration finished they have opened this church for 3 weeks Oct 13-Nov. 4, 2012.
With it being off-season and the short opening period just announced I assume it will be open to the general public without advance reservations required?

Too early they seem to be just getting into the planning stages and it will *very likely* be a seperate booked admission from anything else.
I think the best bet is to subscribe to 2 'google alerts' one for "Santa Maria Antiqua" and another for "S. Maria Antiqua" for any info that comes out in the following months.
