Roman Forum: Ancient Church 'Santa Maria Antiqua' Reopens Apr10-May30
If you plan to be in Rome between now and the end of May you might want to try to arrange a visit to this ancient church.
I believe than the sign in the Forum stated it was going to be finished and reopened in April '04 but this seems to have been pushed back to '07. And perhaps this is why they are having this limited opening?
Article and a couple of photos here

Now this online newspaper
http://www.accessatlanta.com/hp/cont..._Frescoes.html has at the end of the article this URL www.pierreci.it for ticket info. But I had no luck finding ticket info with any of the links.
If you're interested you could try to emailing them [email protected] .
Regards, Walter

With the restoration finished they have opened this church for 3 weeks Oct 13-Nov. 4, 2012.
With it being off-season and the short opening period just announced I assume it will be open to the general public without advance reservations required?

Too early they seem to be just getting into the planning stages and it will *very likely* be a seperate booked admission from anything else.
I think the best bet is to subscribe to 2 'google alerts' one for "Santa Maria Antiqua" and another for "S. Maria Antiqua" for any info that comes out in the following months.

Also this site did the tickets for that short 2012 opening so perhaps they will again?
