Rolling Stones/Twickenham Stadium
 

I might be in London the weekend of 8/23. What are the chances of getting tickets for the Rolling Stones show? Is it legal to buy from sellers at the concert? For mid-priced seats (I know that this is not very definitive) what am I looking at in terms of price for one ticket (I will be going solo) in USD please. Thanks!

The concert on 23rd August is sold out, but there seem to be tickets available for the gig on Aug. 24.

Can I buy tickets for the August 23 show from sellers willing to sell their tickets the day of the show at Twickenham??? Is or is not this legal? Please advise.

Just back from Paris where I attented the Stones gig last Wednesday at the Stade de France, open air and some 80.000 fans.
There were a lot of people selling tickets outside the stadium.
However, I'd be very careful. I am sure there were fake tickets around.
At the entrance, the tickets go through a machine and I am sure, fake tickets don't make it there.
Hope you're lucky to get a good one.
The show is really awesome and the crowd was mad, however no problems at all. Just happy fans enjoying a great show on a hot summer night.
Worst thing was to get back to the city on the hot, sticky and crowded metro train.

It's not illegal to buy outside the gig.

After reading this posting I purchased tickets for the Stones on August 24th. I'm now a bit nervous as I'm taking my 8 year old with me. I was so excited to get tickets and then began to worry that the crowd might be too much. Also, it starts quite early, does anyone know who is playing with them and when should it be expected to end? I'm arriving that day and also am wondering what is the best way from London (Mayfair section) to get to the stadium. Is it feasible to take a cab?

Congratulations on going to see the Stones. Last November I took my 12 yr old son to see them in San Francisco. I loved it and he was mildly entertained. His favorite parts were the pyrotechnics and the huge video screens.

The Stones always have great security and the demographics of the audience has increased in age so it's a controlled party atmosphere.
Here in the US many people bring their children but the parents truly enjoy it the most.

Pauley: As far as ticket prices are concerned because of the complex distribution of tickets there always appears to be people selling excellant seats outside the stadiums. I would be discreet but not real worried in buying from outside ticket sellers. As the time for them to appear on stage approaches the price falls. I would say $50-70 should buy a ticket.

Thanks for the reply, I feel better. I know nowadays typical rock/rap concert can be much more R rated than the Stones! I'm still wondering who is playing before them and when it probably will end. Also, is taking a taxi crazy from London? Thanks.

You can also purchase them on Ebay. Most of the sellers are really reliable. I got tickets to the sold-out V2003 festival in Chelmsford that way. There's also brokers in London that don't have the horrendous mark-up they do in the U.S., one on Tottenham Court Road.

I gather, that the warm-up band in Twickenham (August 23/24) will be 'Starsailor'. Never heard of them though.
Once the concert is over, you can also read critics on that site.
They also tell how to get there the easiest way. Not sure, you will find a cab though, speaking about getting back to your hotel. Imagine, some 50,000 fans!
To get there by cab from Mayfair shouldn't be a problem, I think.
Most concerts seem to last some two hours, usually 09.30 to 11.30 PM.
Try to get numbered seats, if possible, especially with your eight year old.

Just saw them twice in Paris (Bercy and Olympia shows!)...
"The Grand Dads of Rock" are still in good shape. You gonna love the show!!

Thanks to all who replied. I have always wanted to see Mick while both he and I can still move! I'll report on the show when I come back. Seems very well organized and the website that Ursalu provided was great.
