JJS2006--My husband and I are going to be at the Hotel Monge next week too. March 31-April 4. Maybe we'll see you in the halls or something. This website makes for a small world.

I'm only through the first line and I love your pictures. They are at street level, people are included. So many pics are of the monuments, but not people.

Of those I've perused so far the fox gloves in front of Notre Dame have caught my eye.

Ooohhhh this is fun. Thanks!

JJS and Y & R - You hope you will enjoy Hotel Residence Monge. The pictures of the ruins of the Roman forum are directly behind the hotel and a great place to have a picnic, watch the men playing boules or the kids kicking a soccer ball. We will be back there beginning April 23.

Great photos. I enjoyed the gargoyle spewing water toward the camera.

Where was the lovely circled ceiling with the chandelier and the patches of bright red paint?

Also, the church with the ivory balconies and catwalks?

Thank you for your gracious comments. I always think that others photos look so much better than mine.
5alive - the ceiling is at the Opera Garnier and was painted by Marc Chagall in 1964. Isn't it fun?
The church is one of my favorites and well worth a visit. It is St Etienne-du-mort and is beside the Pantheon in the fifth. Samson holding up the pulpit, the lacework wood bridge, the stained glass are special. The church is dedicated to Ste Genevieve - with tongue in cheek we were told by a local that you wouldn't find such a church in Orleans (Ste Genevieve is credited with persuading(?) Attila not to sack Paris. He bypassed Paris and went and ravaged Orleans instead.)
