Road trip from Munich to Venice

We're planning to have a roadtrip with our 8 months baby from Munich to Venice. We were thinking to take the dolomite road maybe stay there for one night then go to venice. We are looking for recommendations for best places to stay in the dolimites, wgich villages do you recommend in the dolemites as we wont have time to see all. Any place to stay in venice, we are flexible to stay in nearby areas not necessarily venice. Thanks

Munich to Italy and Croatia by car

Hello, we are planning to go on a roadtrip in July with our baby ( 8 months old) for 20 days and we're thinking of the below itineray:
1- move from Munich to Dolomites and stay there for 2 nights based on forums we've seen that Alta Badia and Val gardena are recommended, we are looking for suggestions where to stay, something which is family friendly and we are open for small apartment as well. Planning to visit Otisei in one day and lago di braies in the second day but we are open for suggestions.
2- we will move then towards Venice to stay in that area for 4-5 days: we are open to stay in a nearby village or city and then spend the day in venice next day. Any nearby place you can recommend?
3- we will move to Croatia but we can stay like 1-2 days in Trieste but we need your recommendations about it.
4- in croatia we are looking to stay in Rovinj for 3-4 days, any recommendations on things to do which are family friendly?
5- then after that we will go back to Munich through Austria and we might stop at salzburg
your recommendations are highly valuable and we are open for suggestions

Do you drive from Munich to Venice and back and how much time will you have for that (except the time spent at Munich and Venice)?
Our answer will depend on the time you have to spend.

We have a total of 21 dats, we will spend 3 days in Munich before we leave to Venice. We are flexible, it takes 6 hours by car from Munich to venice but we thought it would be nice to stay 2 days in the dolomites on the way to venice and pass by Austria ( salzburg) on our way back to Munich

There are 2 main itineraries from Munich to Venice:

A) Motorway Munich - Woergl - Innsbruck - Brixen-Pustertal - Chiusa-Val Gardena - Bolzano/Bozen - Egna-Ora-Tremeno - Trento - Rovereto - Verona - Padova - Venice.
All these cities (except Woergl, Brixen-Pustertal, Chiusa-Val Gardena, Egna-Ora-Tremeno and Rovereto) are worth a visit.
You can enter the Dolomites from the following points along the motorway:
from Brixen-Pustertal to Bruneck - Alta Badia or Toblach - Cortina d'Ampezzo
from Chiusa-Val-Gardena to Funes Valley or Ortisei - Alta Badia
from Bolzano/Bozen to Lake Karersee - Vigo di Fassa
from Egna-Ora-Tremeno to Fiemme Valley.
At Trento, you can change to the more scenic road via Sugana Valley and Bassano del Grappa to Venice.
At Rovereto, you can change to the scenic provincial road along Lake Garda to Peschiera - Verona.

B) Motorway - Munich - Woergl, higway Woergl - Kitzbuehel - Mittersill - Felbertauern Tunnel - Lienz - Toblach - Cortina d'Ampezzo - Pieve di Cadore - Ponte nelle Alpi - motorway - Venice.
This itineray crosses the Dolomites between Lienz and Ponte nelle Alpi.

There are many connections between these 2 main itineraries.

For the way back from Istria to Munich, there will be several main itineraries too:
via Trieste - Udine - Villach (all motorway from Koper)
via Postojna - Ljubljana - Villach (all motorway from Koper)
via Postojna and the Slowenian Alps.(motorway from Jesenice).

Five bases plus a stop in Austria and time in Munich in 21 days seems a bit ambitious to me, especially in July with an infant. You also mentioned three days in Munich. Are you flying in and renting a car, or driving from another city? You must enjoy car time and be pretty experienced road trippers, but just in case, buy a really good cooler to have water, ice, etc. and to keep baby food.

Hi, yes agree with you. We changed abit our route. We will go from Munich through Dolomites stay there for 3 days then move to a place next to Venice ( still searching for a place which is near the beach but not as expensive as the touristic areas nearby) then go back to Munich.
