Road maps of Northern Spain
I need to buy road maps for Northern Spain. Should I wait to buy them in Spain? I assume the prices would be better. My first stop is Santiago de Compostela. Any idea what store there would have a good selection of road maps?

Do you want a driving map or a walking map? If you're driving you can print out maps from mappy or viammichelin. Or you can buy Spain maps from Michelin. Many book stores carry these. I would buy the map(s) before you leave so you can look them over before you get in the car and try to find a store to buy maps.

I purchased detailed maps of Northern Spain from Michelin. The numbers are 441, 442 and 443 which cover all three sections of Northern Spain. Cost was $8.00 each. I think that with the price of the Euro vs the Dollar it would be cheaper to buy them becore you leave. Here is the web site. http://www.languagequest.com/travele...FQlqsgodbEeCqQ

You can also call the Spanish Tourist Board in the US and ask for tourist info and maps.

I liked Campsa maps (guia campsa). Incredibly detailed around cities. You can purchase it in Spain.

Yes, I agree with others. Buy Michelin maps here...I usually get mine online from Amazon.com. Michelin maps have never led me astray. I have found that it saves time and money (gasoline) to buy a couple good maps before traveling to a region. This way you can have a good idea of where you're going mapped out before landing in a foreign land.
