River Levels on the Danube

Taking a river cruise from Passau to Budapest in April. Does anyone know the river levels on the Danbue or the current weather

April is some time away and river levels in the Austrian area vary a fair bit. Fortunately the use of dykes and overflow zones mean that while the water may go faster or slower you will see change but the worst will be kept from you. I suggest you check with tourist info a week before you depart to get a more useful view

I can understand your question as in the past on rare occasions , river cruises must be cancelled due to water levels - both low and high. Fortunately this is not a regular thing.

I live within sight of the Danube in Austria. Currently the river is slightly lower than normal for this time of year.
Still no problem for navigation.
In fact , on Saturday, I saw the Arosa Mia, a cruise boat often on the Danube pass by . Seems early as most cruise seasons begin in early or mid April.
Normally about this time river levels rise with snow melt from high mountain areas. But this is usually no problem for navigation.

April is not normally a time of problems for the river levels - past years some problems in June due to snow melt and heavier rains.
Extra high water levels , but not flooding can be bad as this can affect some boats ability to get under some bridges .

But impossible to predict this now with any certainty.

Current weather here is more mild than usual - this to continue into the coming week.

If you wish - post again in early April and ask about water levels.
