RITZ in Paris?

I am thinking of staying in Feb. Any advise on is it worth the extra expense?

Depends on your situation. It's the place I would stay at if I wanted to spend the money. It's still the "Ritziest" and was voted the best service in the world by readers of "Travel and Leisure." It begs the question - "how much is a room worth," much the same as "how much is a meal worth" for restaurants. You certainly don't have to stay at a place like that to enjoy the city, but it certainly would be a great experience. For more Paris information e-mail me: [email protected]

this past November I stayed at the George V. While it was a magnificent hotel, as a tourist I felt extremely out of place and uncomfortable. Don't get me wrong, the staff bent over backwards for you, the rooms were magnificent and the service impecable. However, as a tourist I do not need a $42 breakfast each morning (sorry that was the price), and having to feel that I must dress every waking minute. We weren't in the room that much, and the location was not great for a tourist. This is just my opinion, but I think you would do better at a smaller hotel in a neighborhood. I must say tho, the experience was great.

Because it is expensive, I have never had the pleasure of sleeping there but I did splurge for lunch one year at their outdoor dining terrace that is so beautiful, I want to do it again.

Mimi Taylor

I was trying to figure out the other night if the Ritz Paris does an afternoon tea? Did Angelina's (WONDERFUL experience) last time I was in Paris but was hoping for a more Ritzy, Brownsy experience. Is it possible? Worth the expense? I think I may have finally finagled my best friend into going to Paris this April and would love to do something along that line. Although I will make sure we go to Angelina's just for the chocolat chaud. MMMmmm.

Liz, if I could afford it, I would stay at the Ritz. Wow!! Lucky you!! Hope you have a great time. Let us know what you decide and how you liked it. Maybe you could stay at the Prince of Wales suite?!? Cool.

In the Vendome last Saturday, I vowed to stay at the Ritz at least one night one of these days - or at least to stop by for a drink one of these days. Why hesitate - if you can stay at the Ritz, you have your answer. Let us all know how it was. Ciao

We dined at the Ritz 2 years ago in August. What a disapointment!! We still had fun all I can say is we can tell friends we dined at the Ritz, would not do it again!

Thanks everyone - going to do it for a night, just for the WOW factor! Plan on eating elsewhere though, or picnic in our room, as think I could choke on the expensive meals. Lovely pics. of Paris Ritz in Fodors hotel section
