Ristorante Galeassi - Trastevere Restaurants
 

A number of people on this board have said this is a great restaurant in the Trastevere. I would love the phone number for it if anyone out there has it. If anyone has any other Trastevere restaurants they would recommend, I'd love to hear about them.<BR><BR>Thanks!

Galeassi is one of the most famous restaurants in Trastevere (pretty expensive, too), and I'm sure your hotel concierge will be happy to make reservations for you. My favorite little restaurant in Trastevere is called La Canonica; it's on a little side street off Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere, the food is really delicious and you'll undoubtedly be sitting with Italians, as it's popular with the locals. I don't have the phone number handy, but if I find it at home, I'll send it to you.

Same info I posted previously about Galeassi, from my trip report: It was great and not overly expensive.<BR><BR>We took a cab to Trastevere to eat at a place recommended on this board, Ristorante Galeassi (Piazza S. Maria in Trastevere 3-3a). We had the Roman artichokes (like butter), also the roasted chicken and beef filet was perfectly prepared. We ordered a bottle of ’94 Brunello from the Castello Banfi vineyards and was quite impressed. My son had the lasagna, which he thoroughly enjoyed. We finished the meal with a strange round chocolate sponge cake. That was the only time in the entire trip that we actually exceeded our budgeted amount for dinner. The delicious meal for 3 was about $100.00 and worth every cent. We were even serenaded by a guitarist who sang “Arrivederci Roma”.

Rachele- We had Sunday lunch at Galeassi in February. The weather was sunny and warm and we ate outside- wonderful people-watching as well as food! There were 10 of us, so we had a great variety of dishes. The Roman artichoke was delicious, as well as the salmon and tagliatelle, mussels in some sort of garlicky broth, pasta and porcini mushrooms, lasagna, wine, wine..
