40th birthday in positano

My boyfriend and I will be in Positano the 2nd week in May. Its his 40th birthday and I wanted to do something special. Any suggestions on restaurants, hiking or any other ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

Cristina - For restaurants I'd recommend 'La Tagliata' at Montepertuso.

'Da Costantino' at Chiesa Nuova (- upper Positano) is also good.

The 'Path of the Gods' (Sentiero degli Dei) is the ultimate hiking experience.

Hope this helps ...

Our best meal in Positano was at the the restaurant of the Hotel Covo dei Saraceni. The hotel is right on the water in Positano and has a green roof, you can't miss it.

We're in our early 40s as well, and I can tell you we had a fabulous time in Positano. The very best experience there, for us, was taking the Salvatore e Genaro Amalfi Coast boat tour. Lots of fun, and possibly the best lunch I've ever had.

And I'll second Steve James' recommendation of Da Costantino, both for the food and for the view.

Enjoy!

I splurged on a night at Il San Pietro - absolutely glorious spot, perfectly romantic and well worth it. Even if you just go for dinner, it will be a special highlight for you - have a great time!

Also in Montepertuso: IL RITROVO and DONNA ROSA.

Ask your hotel to make arrangements for you. Many of these restaurants will provide roundtrip transportation from Positano hotels.

Have a great time!

Hi C,

It's something of a splurge, but you might want to try lunch at the Hotel Buca di Bacco.

Just above the beach. Excellent food and service.

I'll be spending my 40th birthday in Positano the first week of August. I have chosen to have my birthday dinner at the Covo dei Saraceni's restaurant.

If you've never seen the movie 'Only You' with Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr., rent it. Marisa's character has dinner at this restaurant. It looks absolutely beautiful!

Good to hear that Buca di Bacco has a great restaurant. That's where we're staying.
