Rick Steve's Paris show
 

KCTS in Seattle aired Rick's new Paris show tonight and it's no wonder that the hotel's owner doesn't care how he treats his guests cause the very first scene practically is shot at the Hotel du Champs du Mar. Talk about promotion and free advertising. I still haven't heard back from the hotel nor Rick Steves group who were going to look into the matter yet never got back to me with their findings. Hey Beatchick did you ever hear back from the hotel re your inquiry?

Not a single, solitary tidbit, ReddVelvet. Not even an acknowledgment that they received the missive.

You might think I'm naive, but I think you should write a letter to Rick Steves directly and tell him what you told us. I've done business with his company (I live in SEattle) and I think he's an honest guy and would listen. And if other Fodorites have had bad experiences with this hotel as well, it would strengthen your complaint if they too wrote.

(I'd send a copy to the hotel as well as a printout of the posts here.)

Did I miss something (probably), did one of you have a bad experience with the Champs du Mar?

Artlover, I did write a letter directly to Rick Steves. I got a response from the Rick Steves camp that he would read the e-mail personally but since then I've heard nothing. I keep waiting because I will post here if I hear anything.

Wow. Just read the thread of what you went through and am quite stunned. Good thing that the hotel was booked for the week of Thanksgiving ... I read raves and was hoping to stay there.

So sorry for you and your girlfriend, but appreciate the warning. I can't fathom being yelled at on vacation for asking for the room I confirmed.
