Richard Widmark R.I. P.
He was 93.
Does anyone remember the film where he trows a lady in a wheel chair down stairs. It was the first film I saw him in and he frightened me. |
Oooh, that chin, that jaw: frightening in some roles. But a very attractive man!

Whenever I have thought of Richard Widmark, that is the scene that has stuck in my mind, him at the top of that tall stairway with the lady in the wheel chair and he gleefully pushed she and the wheel chair down the stairs. Ugh! However that was acting and he was GOOD. Halfpint

He was living on Amelia Island the past few years and we would see him often at the Ritz Carlton or around town.

OOPS! I meant to post this in the lounge. Sorry!

That's OK, Mimi....he had a fine career...he was also Sandy Koufax's father-in-law....Sandy still helps out with Dodger pitching coaches and lives on a big farm in Paso Robles.

My two recollections:
His appearance on I Love Lucy when Lucy wanted to have him autograph the grapefruit she plucked from his tree. Also, as a kid I loved the movie Destination Gobi. ((H)) |
”Does anyone remember the film where he throws a lady in a wheelchair down the stairs?”
”Kiss of Death.” He never won an Academy Award, but for several years Widmark’s name was mentioned as a possible recipient for an honorary Oscar. Too late now, unfortunately. |
That's it!!!
Thanks Wanderful! |
