Rhineland hotel
Looking for a good hotel between Koblenz and Ruedsheim. Any recommendations?
|
Hotel Belle Vue at Boppard, is a very pleasant three star, with good rooms, and plenty of facilities, situated right on the Rhine River Bank, directly at the Landing stage for the K.D.Line River Cruisers, and about 5 minutes walk from the train station.
Boppard is about 20 minutes by train South from Koblenz, on the West Bank.

Harry: On the same side of the river as Rudesheim, there are two that come to mind, both in Assmanshausen. One we have stayed in and one we toured. The one we stayed at was the Hotel Cafe' Post which is right on the river. Herr and Frau Hotger will go out of their way to make you feel at home with clean, comfortable rooms and a great breakfast, all for a very reasonable price. The second is the elegant Hotel Krone just down the street. It is a beautiful and classy place just filled with antiques and also has an elevator.

Either way, you have a good choice. Boppard is also a nice town, just down from Bacharach and you can cross by ferry in several places.

Have fun!

Hello!
We just spent 3 nights in Bacharach at the Alt Kolnischer hotel. It was nice and comfortable. 160dm per night for a room with a balcony (which I recommend!) and breakfast. Bacharach is very old, quaint and charming.

Hello Harry,

I will be staying at Hotel Cafe' Post in Assmannshausen this weekend. I am going there based on the recommendations by fellow fodorites Wes and Lee. I am getting a room with private bathroom (hopefully with a balcony, but at least with a Rhine view) for 180DM, about $87 a night, including breakfast and all taxes. I don't know when you are going, but if you would like more information, you can email me directly after the 16th of June. Thanks so much, Ben. We are planning to be in that area in July. Your website is invaluable!

Hotel Krone in Assmannshausen is great. Ask for a room facing the river.

Harry: My wife and I stayed in Boppard at the Hotel Rebstock. This was a reasonably priced hotel on the Rhine river bank just a couple blocks down the street from the K.D Line docks. The rooms were very pleasant and the staff most friendly and helpful. Wherever you stay,I strongly encourage you to select a hotel with a view of the Rhine. It is one of the most fascinating rivers I have ever seen.

Have a good trip.

Larry

Anyone have any thoughts about staying in St. Goar? Since that is where I plan on ending my cruise, I was thinking of staying there instead of trying to back-track to Bacharach.
|
On the Rhine, I recommend Zur Loreley in St. Goar. Fabulous breakfast buffet included at 70DM single, 110DM double. With the DM near 50 U.S. cents, this is a real bargain. Spotless, comfortable and quiet rooms with shower and WC. Easy walk to rail station and the Rhine boat docks. Lower prices if you stay a few days. The restaurant is great, you will want to work your way through the menu. This is a family-owned and -run place, having been in the family for 80 years. I have stayed there on numerous occasions and have never been disappointed. Located at Heerstrasse 87, 56329 St. Goar; telephone 067411614; FAX 067412550; e-mail: hotel-zur [email protected]; www.hotel-zur-loreley.de. Have a great trip. Loy
