Rhine river Area in March

We will be in the Rhine/ Mosel area in mid March. We need help on what is open for visitors 5 - 15 March. Kids want to visit a castle and take Rhine and or Mosel River trips on the scenic locations, Bacharach to St. Goar and Cochem - Koblenz. Help on what boats are operating and possible overnight location. Suggestions for sites and things that are kid friendly ages 9 - 14

you can check out THIS year's KD timetable to get an idea for NEXT year (KD is the main obat operator here).

It's generally too cold for river cruising in early March, so there's little demand for Rhine cruises and no guaranteed scheduled cruises (unless there are enough crazy people signed up in advance on the day you want to go.) I would probably drop the idea. But you can still have a good time in the area for a few days. You can ride the trains up one river bank and down the other, spotting castles and stopping at towns along the way, with a Rheinland-Pfalz Ticket daypass; all your kids under age 15 travel for free:

Marksburg Castle in Braubach is open year-round. Rheinfels in St. Goar is open on Sat and Sun.

The same pass can be used along the Mosel to visit Cochem (gorgeous old-world town) and Trier. Kids might enjoy the Moselbad waterpark in Cochem:

Trier is a treasure trove of Roman history.
