I just posted this website on your other post. This has some info on other places to stay on the Rhine, including Bacharach.

Also try looking on this website. Ben posts regularly on Fodor's. You can find trip reports, accommodation recommendations and other great info on Germany.

We stayed here in a 5th floor (walk up) river front apartment with a great view of the river in one direction and the castle in the other. There are several apartments, so one would probably accommodate your family of four. The apartments are across a pedestrian walkway from the family-owned hotel. The apartment was clean and quiet, and the family was very nice. I'd definitely go back there.

Try Pension Lettie's in Bacharach-Pension Lettie, Kranenstrasse 6, 06743/2115, [email protected] I stayed there last summer in a large quad room with three teenagers..it was great!

My favorite is Burg Stahleck. It's a castle turned in to a hostel. It's really clean and well run. We stayed with a family of 5. Wife, self, 16 and 12 boys and 8 girl. They gave us a really nice family room overlooking the Rhine.

Staying there was a highlight for the kids.

It's always busy so you will want reservations.
