Reykjavik excursions

We will be in Reykjavik for three days next month. Am looking at the Golden Ccircle and one other complementary day trip while we are there. There appear to be many options available from venders that vary in price and activities.

Can you recommend good candidate venders and tours that offer a quaiity tour combining itinerary ans price for the Golden Circle as well as another day tour that provides a good bang for the buck? We are not adverse to bus tours compared to private tours.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations you might have.

Not quite an answer to your question, but we did the Golden Circle twice, both times just renting a car and doing a self directed tour. It is quite easy and the roads ranged from pretty good to OK. We found the roads to be well marked. You may want to try that - it will allow you to spend as much time as you wish at each site.

Richard58, We're trying to do the same thing next month. Which company did you end up using?

A great day trip is to Thingvellir. Beautiful hikes, and no one was there when we went. They also have an interesting museum there. We drove, and roads are well marked, although some are dirt.

Thought about doing that, but rental car seems to be more expensive than private tours. Which agency did you use for rental?

Hertz. It was without hassle at Keflavik airport, and no one seems to rent. No line.
