Note: many Rhine cruises start in Basel. Please build in some time to visit my city!
Fantastic video! We were aware of water level issues and boats tying up beside each other, but it was the word "regimented" that caused us to sit back!
We may not want to go on every tour; we may want to sleep in and have breakfast at a later time; we may not want a 4-course dinner each night, but a snack elsewhere on the ship. Which cruise lines would give us this flexibility, we wondered. More research for us.

I just added a post to the end of my thread about a more casual dining option in the Aquavit Terrace. Hope it helps.

With several comments here and on other threads about the Danube, this is interesting.
The Danube is blue only in the name of the waltz, at least in its navigable sections.

Update: We eliminated Tauck due to no balconies and not visiting Budapest. We're considering Viking and AMA - getting quotes for each, and then adding our own before and after trips to include Berlin and Krakow. We'll let you know which we choose.

Compare

We have narrowed our options for a river cruise on the Rhone to Tauck, Uniworld and Scenic. We are interested opinions on food, excursions, staterooms and any other helpful hints. We have done many ocean cruises but this will be our first river cruise.

This topic is 2 years old and has many replies. It would be better if you started a thread of your own with your specific questions.
