Can't believe I never replied to this! Oops!

We did get to Crociani, and enjoyed the wine there very much. I also enjoyed reading the large guest book, signed by visitors from across the globe. In addition, jd_dallas was kind enough to leave us a bottle from Crociani, which we are looking forward to enjoying when we need a taste of Tuscany!

We did a "wine tasting tour" of many of the cantinas in town, and brought back bottles from Gattavecchi and Redi. I particularly enjoyed a white wine from Redi, which surprised me as I was expecting only to buy reds.

Saving this for future planning

Great report!

I bought a case of Crociani Reserves, and they are resting comfortably in my wine cellar. I will open up one of them next month on the anniversary of our return. I also thought their vino da tavola was some of the best I've had.

Hope you can make the NJ/NY GTG on 22 October so we can share some memories. ((b))

Patrick and others: Patrick as you know we stayed at the "other place" -- Al Poggiolo apartments. We liked it so much that we recommended to friends here in Canada.

Just got a call from a woman friend who stayed in July. Her call: "Let's have a drink so I can give you the baby's pyjama that other friends of yours left behind in June."

Seems Elena had found the pyjama that friends left behind when they departed with Baby -- then connected them with me and cornered my other friends to send this little scrap, trans-Atlantic, to the owners.

Anyone who visits Montepulciano should eat at Logge del Vignola. Exquisite. And they have a new wine shop and perhaps tasting-bar opening this year -- the owner showed us their very, very, high-end construction project across from the restaurant...

LOL. I'm sure the "other place" was very nice. This is a thread about the "Review of Politian Apartments." I don't think there is any attempt at competition. ((a)) ((b))

Sometimes the comparisons of the two places have raged fast and furious on these pages. Each has its partisans. I'm sure both are fine choices.

Sometimes it's best to give one's own personal opinions of a place. It's not a partisan issue. I have no dog in this hunt. ((b))

It's true, this is only my personal review of Politian- no competition, as I have not stayed anywhere else! :)

However, I do hope that this post encourages people to spend some quality time in Montepulciano, rather than breeze through for a few hours. No matter where you choose to stay, it is a lovely, charming town- a perfect place to spend a week!
