Review of Italy Itinerary-2nd time there

Hi everyone. Would like to get your opinion on our Italy itinerary for May, 05.

We've been to Italy once before and went to Rome, Tuscany and Umbria. This time, my husband would very much like to return to Rome, so we are planning:

5 nights Venice
2 nights Florence
3 nights Rome

We are keeping it a bit shorter at 10 days because in October, we are going to south of France.

Is 5 nights too much in Venice, and are we short on Florence? I was thinking more Venice, Florence, Cinque Terre, but husband wants to see Rome again. Figure we may be able to catch Cinque another time when we return to Tuscany.

Would appreciate your opinions.

You might want to add a day to Florence and subtract one from Venice. Still, your original plans are also fine. You see, you're in a "can't lose" situation!

Hi TB,

Perfectly fine.

If you do 4 Venice and 3 Florence, you could easily do a daytrip to Siena.

Or with your current plan, you could daytrip from Venice to Verona, Padua, or Vicenza if you want to take a break from Venice.

Much depends on your interests. If you're not interested in Renaissance art, Florence could be less interesting. Wandering the streets of Venice might lose its charm after three days.

Me? I could spend 5 days in each place easily.

How much of Tuscany did you see on your first trip? Because you might want to skip Florence in favor of some Naples/Pompeii/Sorrento/Paestrum action. Overnight train reservations could make the traveling painless (assuming you aren't 6'8&quot.
