Return to Rome in September!
 

Well after throwing in 18 coins in the Trevi Fountain in May 09 - we are returning to Rome to see alot of sights we missed the 1st time. We are leaving the 1st week in September for 8 more days. Naturally, that still isn't enough - but enough to make us happy. This time we are trying to find an apartment - which I never thought was so difficult! I think I have been to every sight & web and agency and still haven't found a place. So many have mixed reviews - veener sight- is not working too well which doesn't help & VRBO is sooooooooo slow. We would like to stay, naturally, Campo,Navona or Pantheon area like everyone else. Just wanted to share my happiness! Any suggestions for apartments would be a great help! Thank you also for your previous help getting us to Rome last year! Slow Travel has many agencies with not too many updated reviews.. It seems Sleep in Italy has the most to choose from...Again any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

We and others on this board have had good results with Rome Capital Apartments. We like the 2 person Apt. "Miguel" (you can google using Miguel + company name).

Fodors poster Low Country Islander has rented their Boccaccio apartment, which is a larger and quite impressive 2 bdrm unit.

Both apartments are near P.za Navona.

Unfortunately, this company reverts to high-season prices as of Sept. 1 so you cannot count on getting the great low-season prices charged in July and August (and in March, when we rented).

Their prices are still competitive, however.

Some other companies may run at low-season rates until Oct. 1, so it may be worthwhile checking around.

Thank you for your response..it is greatly appreciated. We would like to stay in the Navona, Campo or Pantheon area (along with the rest of the tourist) we will be there 8 nights. We are trying to do more night life, since we didn't get to that last year. Mostly, all day trips and sightseeing locally. It is really hard to find the things we are a custom to in the States for no more than 130E a day. Still checking! Since we are only 2 people it is a little harder- alot of the good ones are pre booked.

Yes, we have been spoiled, because we travel off-season: We paid only 104 E per night, in March 2010, for our beautiful apartment.

The prices on Sleep in Italy, which we have also used, depend on the number of guests, rather than on the season.

As you are only two, you might get a good rate from this company, which many people on this forum have praised.

I'm also surprised that you found VRBO slow. I never have that problem. We have also had good luck with SleepInItaly.com.

If you are willing to stay a few blocks away from the Navona, etc. area, you can save money.

it's supposed to be for up to 4, but is really ideal for 2, and is very quiet and comfortable. we paid just over €800 for 7 nights in February so it may well be within your budget. I loved the area - as you'll see if you read my report!

I suggest you a very comfortable apartment in this square: http://www.thesmartcactus.com/eng/ap...ome/comet.html Is very close to Largo Argentina, Piazza Venezia, the Roman Forum and the Colosseum; but I think that you already know it!^^
