Retaurant recommendations near Milano Centrale
We will have two hours between trains at lunchtime.
Does anyone know of a place they can recommend for a quick, satisfying lunch? We will each have one rolling suitcase with us, so we can't go too far. |
Of course, first word is spelled wrong! Restaurant.
|
Anyone?

There are several restaurants just across the street from the train station along with quite a few hotels which will likely have restaurants also. You won't have a problem finding something to eat.

Thanks ky,
When I was doing my online research for eating places, I did notice that hotels in that area have decent restaurants. I'll check further into hotel locations near the train station. Thanks. |
I'm not going to be in Milan until June but have been doing research - also, the NYT travel section has a good story about Milan's restaurants. Can't vouch that all these are just steps away from the Duomo but....

Carta_Pisana,
I clicked on the Peck link you provided, but it appears that this is an online store, not a brick-and-mortar restaurant on the street. You also suggested restaurants near the Duomo, but I don't know how far away from Milano Centrale the Duomo (Galleria Mall) is located. It's been five years since I've actually been "in" Milano - not just passing through its train station. I will check out your other links now. |
Topping for you, Kane. I am interested, also.

The famous restaurant of Peck is Cracco Peck but it is nowhere near the station and you would not have time in just two hours.
|
Okay, so Peck is out. We will be leaving Lucca (through Florence) that morning, so a decent lunch is important.
At 2:15 p.m., we have to take our third train of the day to Varenna. For me. and gracie04, I'm hoping someone will see this thread. |
Here is one lead, for a seafood place:
http://www.acena.it/centroittico/ I wish I could be of more help. I have stayed near the station several times and do remember a couple of decent trattorie but it was too long ago for me to be more specific! Let us know what you find.. |
ekscrunchy, That restaurant is in a good location relative to the train station.
What's up with the "reservations obligatory?" Maybe they are only referring to dinner... |
Peck does have dining upstairs, but I think that you will not have time with only two hours. I agree with the others, just find something across the street from Milano Centrale. Also, they do have a little restaurant and a sandwich kiosk right inside the train station. Then, you could just wait and have your nice meal once your arrive at your destination.
