Resturants near the Vatican

Hello all Fodorites: It's me again and we've finally pretty much finalized our itinerary. We are looking for a place for lunch near the Vatican. We have a 9:00 am Scavi tour and a Vatican tour for 13:00. Any suggestions for lunch?

Thanks again,
Tammy

Osteria Angelo-Via Giavanni Bettolo. Within walking distance of the Vatican Museum. North of Ottaviano Metro Stop.

Gets rave reviews.

If it's just some place to get a quick bite between tours, the Vatican Museum cafeteria had some of the best pizza we ate in all of Italy.

Restaurants do not start serving lunch until 12:30 at the earliest. Because you need to be at the Vatican by 1:00, this doesn't give you enough time for lunch in a restaurant or trattoria. Avoid the over-priced and usually bad places across from the Vatican and eat in the Museum cafeteria.

Sounds like the Museum cafeteria is our best bet...and pretty good pizza too! Thanks everyone.

I think I just replied to you, but saw this twice....but I did recommend Mondo Arancina near Lepanto, or a pizza by the slice/caffe on Via Cipro literally across the street from the station. Good eats, good price
