restos Nimes and Arles
 

..was told yesterday that I am off to Nimes and Arles Sunday am. I am on business so will have very little time (which is sad) but on an expense account (which isnt). Do you have any recommendations for dinner on Monday night? I haven't seen the final itinerary so I am unsure whether we will be in Nimes or Arles. I have no choice as to hotels (booked by those who pay ) but will likely be in the city centers. We will not have a car. Would like something good and a place that is open on Monday night. Any suggestions??

Not sure about Mondays, But I like L'Affenage, 4, rue Moliere and Vaccarés that overlooks the Place de Forum, but I'm not sure if it's still open. I heard rumors that they may close.
(How's the food at Umbra? We have not dined there yet.)

If I were on an expense account in Arles, I think I'd try out Lou Marques in the Hôtel Jules César on the Blvd. des Lices.

It's been a few years, but we loved Enclos de la Fontaine in Nîmes - in the Impérator Concorde hotel on the Quai de la Fontaine.

I am back! The trip had a minor snafu so I did not get to try the restaurants which you kindly recommended. I did stop at the Imperator (and I wish we had been booked there. Coolegues were there 3 weeks before and our original room booking as of 48 hrs before had been there) to book dinner but we were supposed to have left the airport at 11pm so the earliest reservation for 7:30 would have cut things too close..
I did have 2 meals at 2 small places which were decent- The Huit Clos and Table du Marche. Both nice limited menus featuring local products..The second was almost like sitting in a family kitchen. The first a bit smoky but no more so than the usual small French restaurant. Not memorable meals but certainly adequate and nice to see region dishes.
