Restoril - Any experience with using it to sleep on a flight?

I have Restoril that I use ocassionaly when traveling to help me sleep in hotels. I am leaving in 4 weeks for Italy and would like to try using it for the flight over. I usually don't sleep a wink on a plane and, of course, feel awful when I arrive. The first day is pretty much wasted.

Any experience/advice?

It should work just as well on the plane.

a couple of Tylonel PM could do the trick as well

Is it one of those that you need to have 8 hours for sleep if you take it? Then you might not want to unless your flight is longer than that. You have experience with it, so I'd go with what you know.

Tyleno PM doesn't work for everyone, so I'd try it at home before you take it on a plane. It tends to make me wired instead of relaxed - my legs get really restless and not something I'd want while I'm crammed into that small space.

Though I do it all the time here, we should really be careful tossing around medical suggestions. Tylenol PM or Benedryl is the WORST for me, makes me over-alert and anxious.

If Restoril works well for you at home or hotels I don't see why it wouldn't be fine for the flight as well.

Thanks. When I take it at home, sometimes it lasts 4-6 hours; sometimes it last 7-8. I feel fine the next day.

The reason I asked was that I have read comments on many sleeping pills, but Restoril is neveer mentioned. I thought maybe it wasn't a good idea for flights.

Tylenol/Excedrin PM make me extremely irritable the next day.

Thanks for any comments!

TylenolPM, which includes Benadryl, can dry out your nose to an uncomfortable level.

I take restoril too. It is a short acting drug, so you won`t get 8 hours sleep out of it. It can be repeated if you don`t go to sleep, say in about 1/2 hour. I`d rather take something more long acting on long flights, such as ambien or lunesta. I`m taking lunesta for my flight between LAX and Tokyo.

Just don't drink any alcohol while using Restoril.
