Restaurants with a view - Italy

Hi all

I thought I'd start a restaurant thread with a little twist. I'm always in search of great views and I'm sure I'm not alone!

What restaurants did you enjoy in Italy which also had great views? It could be from an outdoor terrace, or not.

I can add Poggio Antico in Montalcino to this list. The restaurant has wonderful views from its outdoor terrace.

It will be interesting to see what we all come up with!

In Capri, Ristorante Belsito.

In Positano, Da Costantino.

In Ravello, Villa Maria.

In Orta San Giulio, the restaurant at Hotel Orta.

In Menaggio, the restaurant at the aptly named Hotel BellaVista.

And in Rome, any of the sidewalk trattorias near the Piazza Navonna (I just love the people-watching there).

I can't imagine a better view than from the rooftop terrace restaurant at the Hotel Danieli in Venice! Ahhhhhh......gorgeous views of Venice! MY personal fave! :) Melissa

The loggia of Villa San Michele in Florence.

The roof garden restaurant of the Hotel Valadier in Rome

I agree with Jody. Also, Hotel Santa Caterina outside of Amalfi is beautiful - even if just for a drink and fresh olives!

My favorite -- inside the cave/grotto suspended over the adriatic and looking out to the sea -- open air:

Great thread...I often factor views in my choices as well!

* On Lake Maggiore, on the island "Isola Superiore dei Pescatori," Ristorante Verbano...to sit outside and gaze upon the lights of the nearby Borromean islands is unforgettable, and food fantastic! http://www.hotelverbano.it

* In Fiesole, another vote for Villa San Michele, out on the loggia

* In Portofino, Ristorante Puny or Hotel Splendido

* In Venice, Ristorante da Raffaele in San Marco, outside along the canal, and Harry's Bar (for the inside people-watching!)

*In Rome, Osteria ar Galetto da Giovanni in Piazza Farnese, and Ristorante Ulpia overlooking the Trajan Market ruins and the Capitol

Ristorante Umbra in Todi.

My favorite views in a restaurant in Italy are invariably the faces AT the table and the food ON it.

The visual gluttony that tempts all day and everywhere must be calling me to turn down the volume for my eyes while I turn it up for my tongue ...

I don't want to look at something deadly dull or ugly, of course, so I'll probably have to make a list of all the ideas here. There are those times ...

The restaurant at the top of the Hotel Hassler in Rome. Their dinner plates have pictures of the historic sites on them, lined up perfectly with your view.
