Restaurants open Christmas Day

Will restaurants be open Christmas Day in London and Paris, other than hotel restaurants? (haven't decided which city we'll be in on that day)? How about Christmas Eve? Will it be for limited hours? Have seached this site, and not found an answer. Thanks in advance.

Karen- I was in the same predicament last month when trying to decide--

LONDON is totally shut down restaurant wise for Xmas Day EXCEPT for large hotels....

Paris is DEFINITELY open--

We are doing London Dec 22-25 and then flying in to Paris on Dec 25 and staying a week--- Everyone on this forum rated Paris for Xmas/New Years time-so that is what we opted to do--

Christmas Eve is the Biggie in Paris. So most restaurants will be closed Christmas Eve....

Hope this helps=--

A lot of pubs are open on Christmas day in London...

Most big hotels which are open in London should do a Christmas lunch. It'll probably be expensive - at least £50 per head, but would include a 3 or 4 course meal and maybe some wine or a drinks reception beforehand, with festive stuff like crackers and party poppers. I would imagine in some of the hotel restaurants that it would be quite a big affair, maybe with a disco or entertainment after the meal.

For an example here are details for The Strand Palace on Xmas day - http://www.strandxmas.co.uk/lunch/lunch_details.htm
and the menu: http://www.strandxmas.co.uk/lunch/lunch_menu.htm

The Raddison Edwardian hotels also have Christmas day information http://www.radissonedwardian.com/londonpartyguide/
Christmas menu - http://www.radissonedwardian.com/londonpartyguide/XmasNYErestLunDin.pdf

Here are the links for the Thames dinner cruises which have been mentioned before:
http://www.thamescruises.co.uk/christmascruises/

As for restaurants, there will be some open, as will the pubs (until early afternoon most probably). TopTable have a list of restaurants open for Xmas, with more to be announced, at:
http://www.toptable.co.uk/feature/christmasday2002.cfm
You can also make bookings on this site.
Also try: http://www.5pm.co.uk I think you can reserve a restaurant for Christmas there.

Hope thats of some help!
