restaurants near Borghese Gallery
Can anyone recommend a good and inexpensive restaurant located in this area?
Thank you! |
There is a self serve/bar inside the villa where you can get sandwiches and snacks.

crystal! does this mean that you are squeezing Borghese Gallery in on your trip? cool. I would buy sandwiches and drinks by your hotel and have a picnic in the park. The grounds are really nice and their are plenty of benches to sit on. Otherwise you are a short walk to via veneto. plenty of cafes line the street.

Yes, I will be making reservations for the 5-7 tour which will be after the vatican tour (ends at 3) so I'm looking for a place for dinner.

I believe there is a restaurant in that area called Othello. Beautiful outdoor garden and terrific veal. Not very expensive. I will find out exactly where it is and get back to you. I can't remember from September 2004.

Walk back toward the Via Veneto, there are loads of places there. Or go down the stairs into the Metro station, and you'll come out near the Spanish Steps, with many cafes and restaurants.
One of our favorites is Giarrosto Toscano on Via Campania, which is the first street at the top of the Via Veneto, across from the Metro stairs, You would need reservations though and it is moderately expensive, but only a 10 min walk from Villa Borghese. |
This is a great restaurant and not expensive, recommended by friends which we then recommended to friends after eating there...and everyone loved it--Ambasciata d'Abruzzo. Lots of locals eating there, friendly service and good food.

The Borghese Gallery is in the Parioli section of the city which is mainly upscale residential. Lots of restaurants nearby if you are willing to be adventurous and go a few blocks on foot...people eating in them would be almost guaranteed to be "local."
Or you can easily walk through the park below and be at the top of the Via Veneto and not too far from the Spanish Steps as someone above has mentioned. |
Ambasciata d Abruzzo was a wonderful experience. Highly recommended. The restaurant has a web site, but I haven't been able to find it.

The one that I went to was Otello Alla Concordia. Via della Croce 81. Phone is 06-679-1178. Near the Spanish Steps. Not far from Borghese. I especially loved sitting outside in the courtyard and the veal dishes. Afterwards, we walked to the steps and got gelato. Ah, the magic of Roma!

Rufus, I don't think the Website is working. This restaurant review has a link to the site, but nothing is there-- http://www.toprestaurants.com/rome/A...-d-Abruzzo.htm

Perhaps because it is August? I've noticed a few Italian restaurant sites are shut down in August, which I thought odd as they need only say they are closed in August! Da Fiore in Venice is one of them.
