restaurants in Versailles

Saw a post for posh restaurants in Versailles. Any ideas for mid range meals (or cheaper)? We will be taking the train.

Thanks. Karen

As you are facing the palace, a street goes up the 'right' side of the chateau grounds... numerous little cafes there, and in the streets just behind or a bit away from the chateau...

There's a McDonald's between the palace and the railway station.

Does cheap have to mean McDonald's?

No, but McDonald's usually means cheap and fast. Are you going to see the palace, or are you going to eat?

I've encountered many visitors to Paris who just want to see Paris and its surroundings. For them, meals are a necessary evil that consumes time and money. If you're the type of person who eats to live, McDonald's is a fine choice anywhere.

Keep in mind that eating in a typical French restaurant can take several hours.
