Restaurants in the Luberon
We'll be spending a week in the Luberon, and would appreciate any restaurant tips, especially for out of the way places and places with a local feel. Thanks
We very much liked La Ferme de la Huppe, an auberge with a very good restaurant: definitely local feel. It's near Gordes (but more on the road that leads up to it than the village itself).
We can highly recommend La Feniere, just south of Lourmarin on the road to Cadanet.
I second La Ferme de la Huppe. I think it's actually on the road through the valley between Gordes and Roussillon. Look for a very small sign.
L'Auberge de la Loube, in Buoux, near Bonnieux. It's listed in the Provence section of Fodor's online guide. Fantastic place way up a very winding road, with the world's most amazing antipasto platter.
Hi, Dlk, We always return to the Le Fournil in Bonnieux, and The moulin de Lourmarin. We loved Le petit maison in cucuron but may never go back because it was outrageously expensive,I don't remember the names of the places we stopped in Cavaillon and Ansouis that were very pleasant
I forgot to include the "Auberge de Presbytyre" in Saignon (by the Village Fountain) and in the Fontaine de Vaucluse, "Chez Phillipe"overlooking the water falls. There you can visit the Jewish Museum and a paper mill.
At Chez Philippe, I tasted my first écrvisse. |
La Ferme de la Huppe is 5 km from Gordes on the route de Goult, which is the D104.
I whole heartedly second the Auberge de la Feniere on the edge of Lourmarin. We had my 60th b'day dinner there and it is superb. Reine Sammut is the chef and is one of the most highly decorated female chefs in France. Be forewarned, this is not "Cheap Eats".
Mas de Tourteron in tiny village of Les Imberts, near Gordes. Also, in Isle sur la Sorgue, Mas de Cure Bourse.
Chefs of both places are women, unless Patricia Donze has left Mas de Cure Bourse, as has been mentioned here but not "validated!" |
Hi grandmere, I hope Mme Donzé has not left.
Anyone please who knows! Also I wish I had bought the cookbook of the Tourteron, thinking I could get it here, but I did buy the chef's beautful book of the moulin de Lourmarinn on Amazon. |
I'm writing down every word. We are going to Bonnieux with hopes of eating at Le Fournil.Where else might we eat (Monday evening) while staying in Bonnieux? Tuesday is reserved for Le Fournil. I do hope Mme. Donze is still at Mas Cure Bourse as we will be staying there for two nights. We will eat at the Mas one evening. Does anyone have suggestions for another place in the area for dinner(my guess is it will be Saturday evening. Or, should we simply plan on two dinners at Mas Cure Bourse? .

From Bonnieux, La Feniere is about 25 minutes away.
