Restaurants in Sintra

What restaurants can anyone recommend in Sintra? I am going Saturday and would like to know the best places to eat.

Also, how is the flea market that is supposed to be going on Sunday?

Hi Susan. I am portuguese and live near Sintra, so I think I may help you.
Good restaurants:O Cantinho de S.Pedro (near the market place in S.Pedro de Sintra), Curral dos Caprinos (in Varzea de Sintra), wonderful portuguese food, be prepared to eat a lot. There is a lovely brazilian and good restaurant in Sintra with live music , which is also an art gallery, Os Orixas.

And DON'T MISS the PIRIQUITA, a delightful cake shop in the center of Sintra . Be sure to eat "travesseiros" and "queijadas" . You will cry for more:)

While in Sintra go at least once to Guincho (10/15 minutes drive) and have lunch or dinner in one of these restaurants near the sea:
Furnas do Guincho
Faroleiro
Mestre Zé
(wonderful seafood or "arroz de marisco", seafood rice)

The market in Sintra is very good: food, clothes, hancraft) but it goes only on sundays every 2 weeks so be sure you will catch it opened.

Really I cannot understand why is Sintra such a nice place?I was there in August and I have to say that it is not so special...Ok,it is full of green and there are some palaces. In Germany ,Austria, Switzerland forests are bigger and you can easily find "green" locations than in Portugal.
I was disatisfied with Portugal.Lisbon was so dirty, there were some important monuments but they were black,in reality i think that Lisbon is a city full of relics, probably they have never renovated their buildings.Tram 28 was nothing special at all!It passes through ugly dirty roads and you can see some ridiculous houses. There is so much grafitti everywhere that is so terrible!Baixa was the place to find drugs,sex...Really frightening in the night.

Sintra is a beautiful place with some great restaurants. We were really glad that we visited. Just a little word of warning though- on the last day of our holiday we parked outside the restaurant and had our car broken into while we were eating. Sadly we lost all our photographs of the holiday. The owner of the restaurant said that this is a common occurance unfortunately. It hasn't put us off though, we're going back next June and being more careful this time to leave nothing on view. Have a great trip.

It doesn't take a B.A. from Dartmouth to be able to discern that Susan Darby and Jik are the same person. ssdssi and agtt@njbuu?? Come on, at least MAKE AN ATTEMPT to fool us, sweetie. You are sooooooooo mediocre.
