Restaurants in scotland

Will be on an escorted package trip to Scotland late May and will have one free evening each in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen. We like nice restaurants with good food, does anyone have any suggestions in each of these cities. We would appreciate any help we can get. Thanks

In Edinburgh, I strongly recommend either Martins or the Atrium. I visited both in December last year and both were excellent. It would be hard to choose between them!

Glosgow has a very wide choice of very good restuarants. It 's very difficult to pick one from amongst so many. One Devonshire Gardens, The Ubiquitous Chip or Rogano would all be good picks.

In Edinburgh the very good list is shorter. Try The Marque or the Siam Erewan.

In Aberdeen you're stuffed. If you like seafood go to The Silver Dralings (or better drive 15 miles south to Stonehaven and go to the Tolbooth).Or Simpsons.

Glasgow has zillions of restaurants, even a Mongolian one.

City Centre :
Gamba : Seafood, exquisite, cannot be faulted (SW corner of Blythswood square)
Bon Gusto : Italian, not cheap, slow, good food
Fratelli Sarti also Sarti's:2 Italian places
Drum & Monkey : bistro at back of upmarket bar, always good, cheap at 12.95 GBP for 3 courses (evening - lunch 11GBP 3 courses)reliably good
Le Bouchon :(near tollbooth-(area of private galleries)French, cheapish, good
avoid the russian place opposite
Rab Ha's - OK

Avoid : City Merchant- trading on past glories, now poor food & service, overcrowded.
Rogano: magnificent art deco bar, drop in for a drink, sadly food has gone downhill, manager left recently, expensive.

West End :
Stravaigin (Gibson St), Ubiqitous Chip (off byres road, ask anybody)
Byres road is full of cafes, including a sushi bar.
Wish I could remember the name of the Indian place at the back of the Mitchell Theatre.Indian waiters all wear kilts, its a scream.

I advise GAMBA
In fact I might go tonight....

NB: whats-on magazines for Glasgow/Edinburgh - The List & M8
In Edinburgh, try The Shore. Difficult to get in , but excellent food, rustic ambience (old seaside building that was a wine distributorship), good service. We loved it.
