Restaurants in Rome

We are looking for restaurants in Rome for good, traditional Italian fare that is reasonable. Does anyone have a favorite to share? Thank you.

We had a very enjoyable lunch at:

(Believe it or not, the pasta with calves' intestines was sublime!)

Two places I liked:
Hostaria Farnese (Via Ballauri near Campo di Fiori), wonderfully flavorful fresh pasta with mushrooms, osso bucco, glazed pear in wine sauce, under 40E with wine.

Gino in Vicolo Rosini (Vicolo Rosini is a little side street near Parliament), wonderful meal with fresh gnocchi (it was Thursday) and eggplant parmagiano, probably 25E with wine.

No matter where you go, be bold order from the list of daily specialties - usually handwritten in Italian on a chalk board near the front door (the "menu del giorno" or "speciallita del giorno" if I remember correctly) - it's what looked good at the market that day.

I loved the Ristorante Schramburg on the via of the same name. Near the Quirinale. Excellent, traditional Roman food. Very reasonable.

Buon apetito!

Tudini close to the termini on Giobeti street... say hello to Georgio for us. It is small, good, and reasonable. If you want to see the pictures visit our web site emilyandjim.info.

We really enjoyed La Piazzetta, near the Roman Forum. Great antipasto buffet and pastas.

I have a very fresh news about restaurant in Rome as on last Tuesday, December 4th, I had a very delicious dinner at "Renato e Luisa".
I ate a great "amatriciana" but I saw that are great also "carbonara" and "tonnarelli cacio pepe e fiori di zucca".
As second course I ate an "abbacchio" that perhaps I will never forget: very long cooked so that you can avoid knife to eat it.
The only failure was the wine list: good wines but, sorry, high prices.
The bill without wine was 30 euro.
I suggest this restaurant: few tourists and many local people.
Location is Via dei Barbieri, 25 (close to Campo dei Fiori) and it is open for dinner and not for lunch; its weekly closed day is Monday.
Buon appetito !

Vincenzo

We were in Rome last month and found Ristorante Il Gabriello and it is one that we will return to again. It is very near the Spanish Steps on a tiny side street. Our dinners were wonderful, fun staff, and cozy atmosphere. It is small and you go down stairs to reach the dining area. We had no reservation but arrived at 7 pm when it opened and they did not turn us away. The restaurant was packed(locals) within an hour and this was a week night. I would have to check my Rome map to get the street name.
